Our Objectives

Promotion of the African continent as a global manufacturing hub, and increasing value addition to the agricultural supply chain in origin countries.

To maximize long term value for our shareholders in a sustainable fashion.

To ensure that our Manufacturing operations in Africa bear fruit in achieving our prioritized sustainable development goals.

Priority SDGS

There are 17 SDGs and 169 targets in total. While these are all important, some are more relevant than others in our context. This section identifies the specific SDGs and targets we are prioritizing as an organization.

No Poverty

  • With a majority of Robust’s sourcing operations being situated in LDC’s in the African continent, SDG 1 is a key priority for us.
  • Ensuring decent working conditions for all employees across our supply chains is a key aspect of achieving this SDG.
  • A key aspect of the creation of secure and decent jobs is increasing the percentage of raw material that we source from small-holder farmers.
  • Working towards full traceability of our supply chains in order to monitor working conditions down to the farm level is key in order to rout out exploitative practices.

Zero Hunger

  • Hunger and malnutrition pose significant barriers to human well being and development. 1 in 10 people worldwide are suffering from hunger.
  • These pressures threaten to increase with intensifying pressures on natural resources as well as climate change.
  • Through careful management and safeguards, Robust aims to positively impact local food security of communities surrounding our operations by:
  • Deeply engaging with and having direct relationships with growers and smallholder farmers allows for capacity-building for sustainable agricultural practices resulting in greater yields and incomes.
  • Educating smallholders and suppliers on methods to eliminate food wastage and losses.
  • Maximizing efficiency in our facilities in order to avoid wastage and losses.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

  • Robust international is committed to executing explicit social and environmental standards as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility obligations with regards to the production facilities and suppliers with whom we transact.
  • Detailed mechanisms and ESMS systems are in place to track, prevent and address any possible violations of labour rights across our supply chains.
  • We are committed to sourcing significant quantities of our raw material requirements from smallholder farmers.
  • We are committed to manufacturing raw materials locally in origin countries in order to boost local employment.
  • We are committed to growing in a manner that is compatible with sustainable development.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

  • Manufacturing and the jobs created from such operations are the key to the next stage of economic development in the continent.
  • Our Goal as an organization is to be at the forefront of this great shift in manufacturing towards the African Continent and provide jobs to the local communities to alleviate the crippling effects of poverty.
  • In order to reach its manufacturing and industrial potential, much needs to be done by the public and private sectors to improve the competitiveness of supply chains in the agro space.
  • We are committed to supporting the inclusive and sustainable upgrading of agricultural supply chains across Africa and their integration into global supply chains.
